Where can you drive a rental buggy?

Every buggy rental includes a designated route and permitted zones. The route must be confirmed by Rentamania before departure and followed exactly. It is based on the selected vehicle, current road conditions and the written rental agreement.

Approved routes in the Akamas area may include Lara Bay, Avakas Gorge, White River and Adonis Baths, subject to current conditions and Rentamania's written instructions. Blue Lagoon is not permitted because it is too far and the route includes unsafe sections. These buggies must not be driven on ordinary public highways or outside the assigned route.

Some tracks in Akamas are unsafe even for a buggy. Leaving the designated route can cause the vehicle to become stuck in a remote area and expose passengers to dangerous heat while waiting for recovery. It can also invalidate insurance and lead to contractual penalties, recovery charges and liability for damage.

Licence, age and safety requirements

The driver must present a valid driving licence suitable for the selected vehicle. Rentamania’s standard minimum age is 21 and the licence should normally have been held for at least two years. A younger driver may be accepted for certain buggy or scooter bookings only after prior written approval and verification of the correct licence category. Never arrive assuming an exception is guaranteed.

All approved drivers must be listed in the rental agreement. Passengers must use fitted seat belts and follow the handover instructions. Closed footwear, sun protection, water and a charged phone are strongly recommended. Do not drive after alcohol or drugs, exceed the vehicle’s passenger capacity, race, drift or enter water, sand, salt or deep mud.

Insurance and deposit

Third-party liability insurance (TPI) is included as required by Cyprus law. It does not mean that every type of damage or every route is covered. Optional protection, if offered for the selected vehicle, is subject to the written agreement and exclusions. Off-road use, prohibited areas, tyres, wheels, underbody damage, water, salt, sand, misuse and unauthorised drivers may be excluded.

A refundable security deposit or card pre-authorisation may be required. The amount and payment method are confirmed before handover. We recommend reading the rental agreement before signing and asking about anything that is unclear.
