People often ask me how Rentamania LTD was created and why I decided to enter the car rental business. The answer begins long before the company itself.
For more than ten years, I have been connected with the car rental industry. Earlier in my career, I worked in banking, where one of my responsibilities was financing businesses, including car rental companies. This allowed me to understand not only how rental companies operate, but also the economics behind the industry. Later, I became a co-owner of another rental company, gaining valuable practical experience. By 2023, I felt it was time to build a company based on my own principles.
01 The Experience That Changed Everything
Ironically, the main reason Rentamania LTD exists today is because of an unpleasant experience I had as a customer.
On one of my first visits to Cyprus, I booked a compact rental car online for what seemed like an excellent price — around €15 per day. When I arrived at the rental desk at Larnaca Airport, I was told that I needed to provide a security deposit of €2,500 on a credit card, or the same amount in cash. This came as a complete surprise — I couldn't remember seeing this requirement clearly explained during the booking process.
Naturally, I decided to cancel the reservation. I was then informed that my prepaid rental would not be refunded, because cancelling at the counter was treated as a cancellation under the booking conditions. The only alternative offered was to purchase an expensive insurance package that cost almost twice as much as the rental itself. Only then would the required deposit be reduced. Having already arrived in Cyprus, I had little choice but to accept.
What disappointed me even more was the lack of clear explanations. When I asked under what circumstances the deposit could actually be charged, the answer was simply: "Everything is written in the rental agreement." I carefully read the agreement but still couldn't find practical, easy-to-understand explanations.
For the rest of my holiday, I drove with unnecessary stress, constantly worrying that I might accidentally violate some condition and lose a large amount of money. Later, I discovered that many friends had experienced very similar situations.
That was the moment I realised something important. The market did not necessarily need another rental company. It needed a company that communicated differently.
02 Building Rentamania LTD
Originally, Rentamania LTD was planned as a family business. My son completed a three-month internship with one of Cyprus' leading rental companies to learn the profession properly. Together we purchased our first fleet of around 30 vehicles and launched the business in 2023.
However, we quickly learned that mixing family relationships with business is not always easy. Within our first year we transformed Rentamania LTD into a professionally managed company with experienced employees. Looking back, it was one of the best decisions we made.
03 A Team of Professionals
Today our company is built around experienced specialists. Our team includes professionals with backgrounds in banking, business management and customer service. Some have successfully operated their own businesses before joining Rentamania LTD.
We believe that renting a car is about much more than handing over vehicle keys. It is about helping people enjoy their holiday safely, comfortably and without unnecessary stress.
04 Why Is the Company Called Rentamania?
Many customers ask where the name Rentamania comes from. The answer is surprisingly personal.
Many years ago, one of my friends owned a popular restaurant in Cyprus called Sushi Mania. It became one of my favourite places on the island — not only because of the food, but because of the wonderful people behind it. Later, they closed their business in Cyprus and returned to Ukraine. Despite everything that happened afterwards, we have remained friends.
When I was choosing a name for my own company, I wanted it to remind me of those people and of the values they represented — honesty, hospitality and genuine care for customers. That is how Rentamania LTD was born.
Over time, we discovered that companies with similar names exist in other countries, and occasionally this causes confusion online. Rather than worrying about that, we have chosen to focus on building a reputation so strong that customers immediately recognise who we are. Our goal is simple: when people hear the name Rentamania LTD, we want them to associate it with transparency, professionalism and outstanding customer service in Cyprus.
05 A Modern Digital Company
Today Rentamania LTD operates a fleet of more than 60 vehicles, including cars, scooters and buggies. Our long-term goal is to expand beyond 100 vehicles and eventually open our own maintenance workshop, allowing us to maintain even higher service standards.
From the beginning, we also decided to become a modern digital company. Almost every process — from reservations and contracts to invoices and customer communication — is handled electronically through our CRM system and email. This makes the rental process faster, more convenient and environmentally friendly.
06 Our Philosophy
Everything we experienced before founding Rentamania LTD shaped the way we run our business today. Transparency is our most important principle. That is why we:
- publish our rental agreement before booking;
- encourage customers to read it carefully;
- answer every question openly;
- explain how insurance really works;
- warn customers about common mistakes before they happen;
- provide detailed guidance about driving in Cyprus, parking rules, off-road restrictions and local road conditions.
We believe that spending an extra ten minutes explaining everything is far better than allowing a customer to face an unpleasant surprise later.

07 Looking Ahead
